Two people arrested after Sunday shooting in west Amarillo


Early Sunday afternoon, Amarillo police officers were called to a parking lot in the 1000 block of southeast 10th Avenue on a shooting.

Investigators said that a 20-year-old man was shot in the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a white Dodge Charger. The suspect vehicle was occupied by a white female and two black males. 

The suspect vehicle was later located in the 4000 block of northeast 26th Avenue. Sydney Short, 19, and Javonne Demontre Mayes, 18, were arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. 

The third suspect has not been located.
