Gina Woodward has been named as the interim executive director of the WT Enterprise Center as it conducts a search for a permanent executive director. This change follows the announced departure of Kyla Frye, who has served as the WTEC’s executive director since 2019.

As he announced the change, Dr. Amjad Abdullat, dean of the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business at West Texas A&M University, expressed his appreciation to Frye for her service and contributions over the last two years and wishes her every success in her future endeavors.

In accepting the appointment, Woodward said, “The Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business has a rich history of supporting entrepreneurship across the Texas Panhandle, and the WTEC has played a crucial role in that success. Serving others is at the heart of what the WTEC staff does well and it’s an honor to lead them.”

Woodward has served as the regional director of America’s Small Business Development Center at WTAMU since January 2015 and has been with the organization since 2008. She will continue in her role at the SBDC and serve concurrently in both roles. Woodward has developed relationships with businesses throughout the Texas Panhandle and will provide strong leadership and experience while WT conducts their search.

Over the last 20 years, the WT Enterprise Center has impacted hundreds of businesses and contributed to the economic development and growth of the Texas Panhandle. Roughly 74 percent of companies assisted by the WTEC are still in business to this day.
