Teen arrested after auto burglary and shooting incident in west Amarillo


Late Saturday morning, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the area of Amarillo Boulevard West and Wolflin Avenue on a shots fired call. The caller was able to give officers a description and direction of travel of the suspect. 

Officers located a 13-year-old male matching the description on the Amarillo Boulevard Access Road. When officers located the male, he dropped a handgun on the ground. 

Investigators determined the gun had been stolen in Lubbock, Texas. The juvenile was in possession of several items that were stolen from a vehicle in the 1900 block of Port Lane. 

The juvenile was arrested for Discharging a Firearm in a Municipality, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon, Theft from Vehicle, and Theft of a Firearm. He was booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains.
