Friday morning, Amarillo police officers from the Proactive Criminal Enforcement Unit were at apartments located in the 1200 block of south Roberts attempting to serve a felony warrant.

Officers saw a male who matched the description of the person they were looking for. As they were approaching to identify the man, he fired shots at the officers.

Three officers returned fire and the subject was wounded. Officers immediately rendered first aid and the subject was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

The original person officers were looking for, was located and arrested. He has not been booked into jail at the time of this story.

We will update the public with information as we are able to. This is still an active and ongoing investigation.
