Buffs picked 3rd in LSC preseason poll

The West Texas A&M Buffaloes have been tabbed third in the 2021 Lone Star Conference Football Preseason Poll announced on Monday afternoon during the league's annual Preseason Media Day at McKinney ISD Stadium and Convention Center.

Monday marked the first in-person media day since the 2019 campaign as the LSC did not sponsor football during the 2020 season due to the COVID-10 Pandemic. Miklo Smalls of Texas A&M-Commerce was named the league's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year while Dominique Ramsey of Texas A&M-Commerce was tabbed the Defensive Player of the Year.
Texas A&M-Commerce picked up 15 of the possible 23 first place votes for a total of 175 points to sit atop of the poll followed by Angelo State (two first place, 152) and West Texas A&M (one first place, 125). UT Permian Basin (five first place) and Midwestern State finished tied for fourth with 112 points followed by Eastern New Mexico (60), Texas A&M-Kingsville (59) and Western New Mexico (33) to round out the poll.
McKinney ISD Stadium is the home of the NCAA Division II Football Championship game. The LSC and McKinney ISD held the 2018 and 2019 championship contests and are set to host the next five title games. The 12,000-seat facility will host the Division II Football Championship on Dec. 18, 2021; December 17, 2022; December 16, 2023; December 21, 2024; and December 20, 2025.
The Buffs open their 2021 season on Thursday, September 2nd as they host the Texas College Steers at Buffalo Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. in Canyon.
