One person arrested after brief chase in North Amarillo

Just after noon on Monday, an APD motorcycle officer attempted to stop a 4-door Buick car for speeding northbound over the Ross-Mirror bridge. The driver sped up and evaded the officer.

The driver continued northbound at a high rate of speed on north Mirror Street until hitting a dip at northeast 15th and north Mirror street. He lost control of the vehicle, struck a utility pole and a pickup truck, and was ejected from the vehicle in the 1500 block of north Mirror Street.

APD officials said the driver walked away from the accident and was caught at northeast 16th and Mirror.

Officers located a substance believed to be methamphetamine in the vehicle. The male suspect has been arrested for Evading Arrest/Detention and Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was taken to a local hospital to be cleared before being booked at the Potter County Detention Center.
