Dalhart shooting leaves man dead, two other people wounded

Early Wednesday evening, the Dalhart Police Department, Dallam County Sheriff’s Office, AMR Ambulance and Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department responded to a shooting that occurred at 109 Maple in Dalhart.

Upon arrival, officers located two people with gunshot wounds laying on the ground and a female subject who had been shot in the arm. Officers located two subjects who were involved in the shooting inside the residence and took them into custody. 

The Texas Rangers and the 69th Judicial District Attorney’s Office were contacted to assist in the investigation. 

One victim, a 24 year old male was transported to Coon Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The second victim, a 22 year old male was also transported to Coon Memorial Hospital and was later transported to University medical Center in Lubbock. The female victim was treated at Coon Memorial Hospital and released. 

Statements were obtained regarding the incident from witnesses. This investigation is on-going and more information will be released as soon as available.
