Amarillo joins fitness program

The City of Amarillo Parks & Recreation Department is now a participating SilverSneakers and Prime Fitness provider.

Provided by Tivity Health, SilverSneakers (ages 65 and over) and Prime Fitness (18-64 years old) are a health and fitness program designed for qualifying adults 18 years of and age and over with Medicaid or Medicare insurance plans.

The program will offer qualifying participants daily and monthly access to the Charles E. Warford Activity Center.

“We are really excited about this additional opportunity to provide our citizens with free options to remain active and healthy. These programs are designed to remove any cost barriers of our standard fees within qualifying facilities,” said COA Parks and Recreation Department Director Michael Kashuba. “Our goal is to continue to offer inclusive, low cost or free quality-of-life options for our residents, and this program is a wonderful addition.”

Participants can sign up at the Warford Activity Center. Identification and insurance cards are required. For more information, visit the Warford Activity Center or call (806) 803-9785.
