Trump teases possible 2024 run in White House remarks

President Trump teased a potential 2024 presidential run during remarks he made at a Christmas party held at the White House on Tuesday.

“It’s been an amazing four years. We are trying to do another four years. Otherwise, I’ll see you in four years,” Trump said to cheers from supporters at the indoor event.

Footage capturing Trump's remarks was streamed live on the Facebook page of Pam Pollard, a member of the Oklahoma Republican Party. Footage showed many of the attendees crowded together without masks.

The report comes after The New York Times reported last month that Trump told advisers that, if President-elect Joe Biden is certified as winner of the race, he could announce plans for a 2024 bid not long after.

The Daily Beast also reported in late November that Trump is considering launching his next campaign for office during Biden’s inauguration, citing multiple sources familiar with the conversations.

The news follows two recent surveys released in the past week that have indicated support for a potential 2024 bid from Trump from a majority of Republicans, even as he has drawn heat from some prominent Republicans for repeating unsubstantiated claims about the race being “rigged” in the past month.

He immediately moved to challenge the results of the election in multiple courts after media outlets called the race in favor of his Democratic opponent on the Saturday after Election Day. However, multiple legal efforts launched by his team and other Republicans have been thrown out due to a lack of evidence.

Though he has continued to refuse to concede in the race, he recently said he allowed his administration to commence the transition of power to his successor late last month.

“Our case STRONGLY continues, we will keep up the good fight, and I believe we will prevail! Nevertheless, in the best interest of our Country, I am recommending that Emily and her team do what needs to be done with regard to initial protocols, and have told my team to do the same,” he wrote in a pair of tweets last week.
