Canyon EDC commits $200,000 to the Kylie Hiner Memorial Playground

The Canyon Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) has committed $200,000 to the Kylie Hiner Memorial Playground.  A citizens committee and the Southwest Chapter of AMBUCS are currently in the fund-raising phase of this 9,000 square foot project which will be located in Conner Park.  The fundraising goal for this project is $1.2 million.  The CEDC will complete their second reading and make a formal presentation to the Playground Committee on September 21, 2020, at the 4:30 p.m. Canyon City Commission meeting.

“The CEDC is excited about the opportunity to be involved with this unique project here in Canyon.  One of our goals for Canyon is to offer the best possible amenities for our community and that includes our recreational facilities.  The CEDC has invested over $1.5 million into projects in Canyon parks and this is an opportunity to invest in a truly unique playground that our community and the region will benefit from,” said Evelyn Ecker, CEDC Director.

“We are very appreciative of this commitment from the Canyon Economic Development Corporation. The CEDC continues to invest in quality of life projects here in Canyon and this large commitment from the CEDC will provide our committee with a great deal of momentum as we work toward our fundraising goals along with AMBUCS,” said Citizen Committee Chair Quinn Alexander.

“This playground is a place for parents and children to enjoy playing without limits. It is a place for families to laugh, learn and play together no matter their ability,” said Canyon Parks Director Brian Noel.  “I appreciate the fact that our CEDC is once again stepping up and improving our parks facilities” Noel added.
“Kylie was a special young lady and she meant a great deal to many people in our community.  This project will honor Kylie and I hope it will remind all of us to follow her example; smile at everyone, introduce ourselves to one another and to treat everyone like they are family,” said Alexander.
