Texas extends waiver on vehicle title, registration requirements

Does your vehicle registration expire this month? Well, during these uncertain times, Texans won’t have to stress over their vehicle titles or registrations.
The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles will continue the temporary waiver for vehicle title and registration requirements. The waiver has been in effect since an announcement by Gov. Greg Abbott on March 16.
The waiver covers these services:
initial vehicle registration vehicle registration renewal vehicle titling renewal of permanent disabled parking placards 30-day temporary permits.
If you have an overdue transaction, you can renew your registration online at www.TxDMV.gov and www.Texas.gov, or by mail, a press release states.
For in-person registration, you will need to check with your county tax office for more information, or you can visit www.TxDMV.gov/covid-19.
Some transactions are available in-person by appointment but only at TxDMV regional service centers. These services include:

APD officer injured after mortar shell fired into patrol vehicle: Fireworks shot at other officers

Late Saturday night, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the area of Hamlet Park on a large group of people, some believed to be juveniles, shooting off fireworks.
When the first officer arrived, a mortar shell was shot through his open driver side window. The firework exploded on the officer causing injuries to his upper and lower body and damaging the interior of the vehicle.
Other officers responded but could not locate the suspect due to the large number of fireworks being shot at them by the crowd.
The injured officer was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers witnessed multiple people at the park filming this incident with their cell phones. The Amarillo Police Department asks that anyone with evidence of this assault on our officer, or anyone who might know the identity of the suspect/suspects, call the Criminal Investigation Division at 378-4258 or 378-9468.

High Plains Pundit Poll: Do you plan to vote for Ronny Jackson or Josh Winegarner?

On Sunday, 5087 readers took part in our final poll during the runoff election. The poll today showed a big swing in favor of Ronny Jackson by undecided voters.

Many of our readers said they were angry and fed up with attack ads, particularly those from Josh Winegarner attacking Jackson. These folks felt some of the ads crossed the line of what's acceptable by attacking Jackson's military service.
