Laura Storrs has been named assistant city manager for the City of Amarillo.
Storrs began her career with the city as an accounting intern more than 14 years ago. Her most recent position was finance director, which includes managing all city financial and accounting functions, internal audits, procurements, warehouse operations, vital statistics and billing for water, sewer sanitation and drainage utilities.
In her new role as assistant city manager, Storrs will serve as the chief financial officer for the city, in addition to other roles.
“Laura’s career with the City of Amarillo has been exemplary and outstanding,” said city manager Jared Miller. “She has served the city and its residents admirably in many different roles, including managing the city’s finances. Laura’s flexibility and knowledge of so many aspects of city government will be beneficial to the entire community in her new position as assistant city manager.”
Storrs is a certified public accountant and holds a Master of Professional Accounting from West Texas A&M University.
“This is a great opportunity for me to further serve the Amarillo community,” Storrs said. “I am excited to help continue improvements and positive momentum already begun throughout our community.”
