City of Amarillo Deputy City Manager Michelle Bonner has announced her retirement, effective May 20.
Bonner has been with the city in various capacities since March 1992, including as finance director.
As deputy city manager, Bonner serves as the city’s chief finance officer, in addition to overseeing public safety and organizational services. City departments that report to Bonner include police, fire, finance, information technology, human resources, municipal court and emergency management.
“Michelle has been instrumental in improving and maintaining the city’s long history of financial stability, including strong financial policies, AAA bond ratings with S&P and numerous awards for best practices in financial reporting,” said City Manager Jared Miller.
“I have been given many opportunities while working for the city,” Bonner said. “I am continually awed at the great people that I work with (and have worked with) over 28 years. My family and I are very blessed to be part of the city.
“As I end my career with the city, I feel that my greatest passion is for my fellow employees and for this community.”
