Canyon encourages citizens to due business with the city via online, email, or phone

The City of Canyon is continuing to monitor and take proactive steps in regards to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) for the community.

"We want to remind our citizens and the community that the City of Canyon has an adjoined relationship with the City of Amarillo with all efforts regarding the Amarillo Area Office of Emergency Management and Amarillo Area Public Health District (Public Health and Environmental Health). In turn, we are in a universal team with our neighbor City regarding these efforts. We have met together about the COVID-19 and are working together to do everything universally, including our communication efforts.

"With that said, all critical information and communication will be coordinated through the City of Amarillo. We want our citizens to be fully aware that your Canyon City Staff is working with the City of Amarillo Staff and know that working together through this pandemic will be better than working alone.

"We have already released some proactive tips and practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19, please see our recent social media posting.

"Right now, our number one priority remains the well-being of our citizens and employees. The City of Canyon will continue to take every possible precaution to protect our community and to stay up to date on this evolving situation.

"At this time, we STRONGLY ENCOURAGE people to do the majority of city business via online, by email, or by phone. Please see the attached graphic for ways to access City services.

"Frequent evaluation of operations will be ongoing and updates of services will continue to be communicated through the City of Canyon webpage and social media pages. Several communications will be from our partners at the City of Amarillo," the city said in a statement.
