AHS girl's track coach arrested for improper relationship with a student

Amarillo High School girl's track / cross country coach Kevin Ufford has been arrested on charges of having an improper relationship with a student. Ufford was arrested late Tuesday afternoon.

Amarillo ISD issued the following statement regarding Ufford's arrest:

“The District remains extremely concerned about the allegations first reported last week which have now resulted in the arrest of an employee. We will continue to cooperate fully with investigators.”

Last week, the Amarillo Police Department confirmed it was investigating a Amarillo High School coach accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior.

The Amarillo ISD released the following statement to High Plains Pundit:

“Upon learning about a complaint of inappropriate behavior involving one of our employees, Amarillo ISD immediately notified Amarillo Police and CPS, and the employee was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigations.

"Because this is an active, ongoing investigation, the district cannot release additional information at this time.

"AISD has no tolerance for this type of alleged behavior, and we will continue to cooperate with the appropriate agencies as they investigate this matter.”
