Juveniles arrested after shooting gun in field near Caprock High School

Early Wednesday evening, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the 3000 block of S.E. 34th Avenue on a disorderly with a weapon call.

Four juvenile males were in a field, south of 34th Avenue, firing a handgun. The juveniles ran from the location, but the caller was able to give officers the direction of travel.

All four juveniles were detained and a firearm was located. Two of the male juveniles were placed into the Youth Center of the High Plains. The other two were released to parents.

Due to the proximity of the shooting to Caprock High School, while extracurricular activities were taking place, the school was placed on lock down while the incident was being investigated.

No injuries were reported.
