Lady Buffs improve to 3-2 with 64-44 win over Regis


The #12 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M picked up their third straight victory on Saturday night as they used a big second quarter to race past the Regis Rangers, 64-44 at the Regis Fieldhouse in Denver, Colorado during South Central Region action.

The Lady Buffs were led offensively by Delaney Nix who went 5-of-10 from the floor including 2-of-7 from behind the arc and 3-of-4 from the free throw line to score 15 points, Tiana Parker finished the game with 12 points followed by Abby Spurgin with 11 and Braylyn Dollar with 10.

The Rangers were led by Whitney Jacob who went 8-of-18 from the floor for a game-high 16 points followed by Morgan Smith with eight points, Gracie O'Neill grabbed a team-high five rebounds to go along with two assists and three steals in the loss.

The Lady Buffs finished the first half going 11-of-22 (50%) from the field including 2-of-6 (33.3%) from deep and 9-of-13 (69.2%) from the charity stripe with 15 rebounds (three offensive, 12 defensive), eight assists, 10 turnovers, three blocks and six steals.

Regis went 9-of-27 (33.3%) from the floor in the first half including 0-of-8 (0%) from behind the arc and 4-of-5 (80%) from the free throw line with 16 rebounds (seven offensive, nine defensive), two assists, 13 turnovers, no blocks and five steals.

WT finished the game going 22-of-42 (52.4%) from the floor including 2-of-10 (20%) from behind the arc and 18-of-27 (66.7%) from the free throw line with 36 rebounds (eight offensive, 28 defensive), 14 assists, 17 turnovers, three blocks and eight steals.

The Rangers went 19-of-59 (32.2%) from the field including 0-of-17 (0%) from deep and 6-of-7 (85.7%) from the charity stripe to go along with 28 rebounds (12 offensive, 16 defensive), five assists, 16 turnovers, no blocks and nine steals in the loss.

The Lady Buffs open up their home schedule on Saturday night as they host the Tigers of East Central with tipoff set for 6 p.m. at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
