Lady Buffs defeat UT Permian Basin 4-0

Head coach Chad Webb picked up his 100th career victory on Saturday evening as West Texas A&M defeated UT Permian Basin 4-0 in their regular season finale. With the win, the Lady Buffs improve to 10-7-0 (9-4-0) and earn the No. 5 seed in next week's Lone Star Conference Tournament.

The Lady Buffs controlled the match from the early stages before Hannah Kelley-Lusk opening goal in the 29th minute. The junior took her scoring streak to three games on a nice assist from Khaline Jacob.

The junior was unlucky not to have a second in the 34th minute with her shot going off the woodwork. Jacob doubled WT's lead in the 39th minute with her seventh goal in the last five games on an assist from Samantha Silvestre.

Kelley-Lusk finally got her second of the game and 10th of the season in the 62nd minute with Jessica Diaz getting credited with the assist. It was her second brace of the season and first since a 3-1 victory over Angelo State on Oct. 17.

Marlene van Mourik hit the woodwork in the 64th minute before forcing a save from UTPB's Marlise Bond on the rebound. Natasha Worm, who came on at halftime for Daniela Estrada, kept the clean sheet intact with a penalty saved in the 72ndminute.

WT was awarded their own penalty kick in the 82nd minute with Emily Avila scoring her first of the season to make it 4-0 in favor of the visitors.

The Lady Buffs finished with 23 shots, eight on-target, led by Kelley-Lusk (6) and van Mourik (4). Estrada and Worm were credited with one save.

WT will face off against fourth-seeded Texas Woman's on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the LSC Quarterfinal at Pioneer Soccer Park in Denton.
