Joint law enforcement operation leads to the arrest of 25 people in Amarillo

This past Thursday and Friday, officers of the Amarillo Police Department, the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, the Randall County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety partnered with agents from multiple federal agencies in an operation to combat violent crime in the Project Safe Neighborhood areas.

The federal agencies involved included the United States Marshals Service; Homeland Security Investigations, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Law enforcement arrested 25 persons for outstanding arrest warrants, drug and weapon offenses, and other violent crimes. The operation recovered 1 stolen vehicle, 2 firearms, and drugs, including marijuana, methamphetamines, and heroin.

Project Safe Neighborhoods is a nationwide initiative that brings together federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement officials, prosecutors, and community leaders to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in a community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them.
