Fernando Jimenez
Just before 3 pm Friday, the Lubbock Police Department received a report of shots fired at the Casa Orlando Apartment complex located in the 1800 block of 3rd Street.

Officers arrived and located a 29-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg. An officer began applying aid to the victim until EMS arrived.

At this time, the man's injuries appear to be serious, but non-life threatening.

Through the initial investigation, it appears a male suspect fired multiple shots at the victim after a brief verbal altercation. The suspect then fled the area before officers arrived.

No arrests have been made at this time. This case remains under investigation.

Lubbock Police released a second update Friday evening:

The suspect in the shooting, 18-year-old Fernando Jimenez, was just arrested by Texas Anti-Gang Center investigators in the area of FM 1729 near East 4th Street.

Jimenez is charged with aggravated assault and will be booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest.
