Buffs picked 6th in LSC football preseason poll

West Texas A&M has been picked to finish sixth in the 2019 Lone Star Conference preseason poll released on Monday afternoon at the LSC Media Day in McKinney, Texas.

Tarleton was picked to repeat as conference champions as the Texans picked up 19 of the possible 25 first place votes for 217 points followed by Midwestern State with two first place votes for a total of 185. Texas A&M-Commerce was picked third with 169 points followed by Eastern New Mexico (130), Angelo State (122), West Texas A&M (119), Texas A&M-Kingsville (88), UT Permian Basin (67) and Western New Mexico (28)

Hunter Hughes enters his third season at the helm of the Buffs as 54 letterwinners return for the 2019 season including all-conference performers Duke Carter IV, Tobias Harris, Eric Collins, Semaj Mitchell and Gerred Johnson. WT is scheduled to open Buffalo Stadium with six games beginning with Azusa Pacific on Sept. 7 at 6 p.m.

Midwestern State's Juwan Johnson was named the conference Preseason Offensive Player of the Year while UT Permian Basin Chris Hoad was named Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
