Standoff in Pampa ends peacefully

Late Monday morning, the Gray County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a welfare concern at a residence located in the Walnut Creek Addition, located north of Pampa.

The welfare concern was in reference to an alleged suicidal person, and a court-ordered mental health evaluation had been issued at the request of a family member. Information indicated that the person was allegedly armed with various firearms.

When deputies arrived at the home, the subject refused to come out of the residence when asked to do so.​

Multiple agencies were contacted to assist with the situation including the Pampa Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety, Pampa EMS, Pampa Fire, Pampa EOC, Gray County Constable, Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Office.

A line of communication was established with the subject, and after approximately five hours, the person came out without incident or injury.

The person was then taken for a preliminary evaluation.
