The Sod Poodles fell in extra innings 6-5 on Thursday night to the Corpus Christi Hooks at Whataburger Field. Hooks third baseman Abraham Toro delivered a walk-off two-RBI single to propel Corpus Christi to victory in the bottom of the tenth inning.

Toro's heroics followed Brad Zunica's RBI single in the top of the tenth, which gave the Sod Poodles a momentary 5-4 advantage.

Right-hander Reggie Lawson started the game for Amarillo. After a scoreless frame to begin his outing, Lawson allowed a two-run single in the second inning to Osvaldo Duarte as Corpus Christi took a 2-0 lead.

The Sod Poodles responded in the third against Corpus Christi starter J.B. Bukauskas. Owen Miller lofted an RBI single to put Amarillo on the scoreboard while Hudson Potts later followed with a two-run single to give the Sod Poodles a 3-2 edge.

Lawson, who went five complete innings in his outing, permitted a solo home run to Toro in the fifth as Corpus Chrsti jumped in front, 4-3. The Soddies then answered on an RBI infield single from Ivan Castillo in the sixth against Corpus Christi reliever Justin Ferrell to pull even at 4-4.

Right-hander Kyle Lloyd replaced Lawson and tossed a pair of scoreless frames out of Amarillo's bullpen. Andres Muñoz registered a scoreless eighth while Blake Rogers authored a scoreless ninth to keep the game tied.

The Hooks bullpen matched Amarillo's relievers, as righty Carlos Sanabria tossed 2.2 scoreless frames in relief and Kit Scheetz hurled a scoreless ninth. Scheetz would allow the unearned run in the tenth.

In the bottom half of the tenth, Rogers began the frame with Osvaldo Duarte as Corpus Christi's automatic runner, representing the tying run. Rogers then hit two consecutive batters in Chas McCormick and Lorenzo Quintana to load the bases.

Travis Radke replaced Rogers and on the third pitch he threw, Toro lined a base hit up the middle to win it for the Hooks.

The Sod Poodles and Hooks continue their four-game series on Friday night. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m. Amarillo sends righty T.J. Weir to the mound.
