Lady Buffs making 4th consecutive trip to NCAA National Championships

The Lady Buffs golf team earned NCAA Division II National Championship berth with their second place finish at the West Regional Tournament in Amarillo, Texas. This is WT's fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA National Championship tournament and fifth in program history.

Dallas Baptist claimed the West Regional title for the second year in a row finishing at 886 (+34), with Ann Parmerter winning the individual title posting a 1-over three round score of 214. WT finished four strokes behind at second carding an 890 (+38), with junior Loukyee Songprasert and junior Holly Winter tying for second individually. Cal State San Marcos finished third at 894 (+42) followed by Oklahoma Christian in fourth at 895 (+43) to earn their spots in the NCAA National Championship tournament.

The Lady Buffs carded a 305 (+21) first round where they sat tied at third. The second round was cut short on Tuesday due to weather delays, but WT stayed focused on Wednesday to complete the round with an outstanding 291 (+7). The Lady Buffs booked their trip to the NCAA National Championships with a 294 (+10) final round to finish second in the West Regionals.

Songprasert and Winter finished with a 2-over final score at 215 to tie for second. Winter had an outstanding tournament with a 74 (+3) first round, followed by a 2-under second round at 69 and a final round at 72 (+1). Songprasert showed her perseverance throughout the tournament by scoring a 75 (+4) first round, followed by a second round even par and a 2-under 69 final round to tie with Winter for second.

Freshman Rachel Huffman finished third for the Lady Buffs and tied for 25th overall, shooting a 230 (+17). Junior Jelina Fernando finished the tournament tied at 32nd with a 232 (+19) followed by senior Kaylin Milholland tied at 41st with a 236 (+23).

The NCAA National Championship tournament is hosted in Palm Beach, Fla. on May 15-18.
