In a stunning development late Sunday night, Amarillo City Council candidate Rich Herman endorsed one of his opponents in the Place 1 race.

In a Facebook post, Herman encourage everyone to vote for his opponent, Hayden Pedigo, who is also challenging incumbant Elaine Hayes for the Place 1 sat.

"Good Evening Everyone! I am deeply concerned and need each of you to share this message!

"Thank you for this wonderful support. Nothing is more touching than to learn, when I'm passionate about something you are there with me. I am truly moved by this gesture, and if I knew sooner that I was so concerned, I may have reconsidered moving on! We need to create a moment here, now, and demonstrate to our children, grandchildren, and future generations that opportunity is here!

"Jokes apart, I want everyone here to know that Amarillo is the reason I have become the person I am today. I have learned everything that I needed to learn so far, and more, from this wonderful community; things that life never prepared me enough for. You could call it learning the hard way, but I still had everyone here to protect me, and support.

"I want to announce I am throwing all my support to Hayden Pedigo, for he is qualified to be the
Hayden Pedigo
person who will bring energy, and new ideas to our community. I can’t support Elaine because she Opposed Mac Thornberry who does so much for our veterans, and seniors. I have developed a strong faith in my own abilities and believe this young man should be elected and needs every one of our votes. Your vote for him and faith will carve a special place in my life, and you will always be remembered for this moment.

"As I move on to a different world with different opportunities, I can only say that I would never have been able to do this if I hadn't got my first opportunity here. I will always cherish everything this community has given me. Thank you everyone! I endorse Hayden Pedigo and want everyone to vote for him because it’s about our future!" Herman said.

While he has endorsed Pedigo, Herman has not officially dropped out of the Amarillo general election being held on May 4th. Herman is a former Justice of the Peace in Potter County.
