Sod Poodles team up with Amarillo Bulls for jersey auction

The Amarillo Bulls held a press conference this afternoon (Monday) with officials from Amarillo Youth Hockey and the Amarillo Sod Poodles Baseball Team.

It was announced today that Amarillo Hockey Association and the Sod Poodles have teamed up for the Jersey Auction that will take place this Saturday night when the Bulls host the Odessa Jackalopes at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The jerseys will be Sod Poodles themed in honor of the new team, and fans will only get to see them on Saturday night.

"Amarillo Youth Hockey is very honored to have the opportunity to raise money through a jersey auction provided by the Amarillo Bulls for the 9th consecutive season," Said Amarillo Hockey Association Executive Director Austin Sutter. "We are thrilled to represent the Sod Poodles baseball team in this year's design to honor their inaugural season and to have the platform to bring the sports community together to raise funds for youth athletes in our community.

"These one-of-a-kind jerseys will only be worn on Saturday night. We want to build excitement and suspense for the fans like we used to during the first few seasons."

As part of this unique partnership, Amarillo Sod Poodles season ticket holders will be offered a special discounted price to attend the game.

"We are excited to partner with Amarillo Youth Hockey and Amarillo Bulls Hockey for a special Sod Poodles jersey auction night to benefit youth sports in our area," said President and General Manager Tony Ensor. "Professional Sports is all about teamwork and giving back to our local community and we are happy to partner with Bulls Hockey to promote the positive benefits that professional sports can provide here in Amarillo and the Panhandle."

Ensor continued, "We're going to have another surprise at the game. You might be seeing something to do with a Sod Poodles mascot come time for the hockey game."

The jersey auction will be the third this season and will take place in The Corral immediately after the Bulls game. Fans are encouraged to get there early and bid on their favorite jersey and all proceeds will benefit the Amarillo Hockey Association.

"Since Hockey is the longest tenured sport in Amarillo, now up to 23 consecutive years, we're excited to have the opportunity to partner with Amarillo's newest team, the Sod Poodles," said Vice President General Manager Rick Matchett. "We believe this is a great way for fans of both sports to come together and help a great organization like the Amarillo Hockey Association that does so much good for the youth of Amarillo! We look forward to a long and productive partnership with the Sod Poodles."

The Amarillo Bulls host the Odessa Jackalopes this Friday and Saturday at 7 pm. Saturday is Amarillo Hockey Association Night and there will be a special ceremony to honor the Player Parents Prior to the game.
