Early morning wreck leaves 2 people dead

An early morning wreck on Monday has left two people dead and another injured.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at about 1:10 a.m., a 2015 International yard truck tractor towing a 2010 Utility reefer semi-trailer was attempting to back across FM-1541, into the loading dock of Affiliated Foods, Inc. A 2017 Kenworth tow truck hauling a 2008 Volkswage Passat was traveling north on FM-1541 and hit the towed semi-trailer causing the cab to be removed from the tow truck.

 Adam Taulbee, 28, of Austin, the driver of the tow truck, and Laura Almanza, 28, of Lubbock, the passenger, were both pronounced dead on the scene.

Christopher Riddley, 40, of Amarillo, the driver of the International yard truck tractor, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

This incident remains under investigation.
