Lane closures scheduled during Soncy Road storm sewer project

Beginning Monday (Jan. 21), Soncy Road will have lane closures in both directions as part of the City of Amarillo’s Arden Road Storm Sewer and Playa 7 Excavation project.

The northbound and left-hand southbound lanes will be closed to traffic from 1,100 feet south of the Perry Avenue intersection, running 1,250 feet south and ending 300 feet north of the W. 77th Ave. intersection.

The southbound and left-hand northbound lanes will be closed to traffic starting Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the same location between Perry Avenue and West 77th Ave.

Access will be available to all streets, driveways and businesses. However, driveway access may be limited to traffic from certain directions. The speed limit through the detour zone will be reduced during the construction period.

The proposed detour is in an effort to minimize the amount of time that traffic is disrupted due to the installation of storm sewer infrastructure. The City will continue to coordinate with the contractor to protect the public’s interest and further a quality completion of the project. Motorists can expect to see contractor personnel and equipment in the work zone. There may be delays related to construction activities in these areas.
