Sunday morning fire causes $100,000 in damage to Amarillo home

Sunday morning, the Amarillo Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2900 block of Shield Court. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found heavy smoke pouring from the rear of the house.

The homeowner attempted to re-enter the home to rescue two dogs. Firefighters prevented the owner from entering the home to rescue the dogs.

Firefighters were able to rescue the dogs and performed lifesaving measures on the pets.

The fire was under control by 10:07 a.m. Investigators said the fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the home.
