Clovis shooting leaves one person in serious condition

Early Christmas morning, Clovis police officers were dispatched to a home in the 100 block of Lydia Street in reference to shots fired and a subject with a gunshot wound. The 9-1-1 caller relayed that a 46 year old male, later identified as James Andre Williams, had been shot in the head and was in and out of consciousness.

Officers arrived on scene where they encountered Williams and other persons. Williams was sitting in the front seat of an older model Buick car parked on the property where the shooting had occurred. Williams was bleeding from a wound to his head but was responding to officers.

Clovis Fire Department ambulance transported Williams to Plains Regional Medical Center and the scene was secured by officers. Williams has subsequently been transported to a Lubbock area hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

Detectives of the Clovis Police Department Special Operations Unit were activated and responded to the scene. During the investigation, it was discovered the residence was shot multiple times.

A short time after the initial shooting, a vehicle was seen passing the residence and a single gunshot was heard by witnesses. The witnesses described the sound of a single gunshot and they watched Williams fall to the ground in the doorway, having received a gunshot wound to the head.
