UPDATE: Hereford Police Chief Brent Harrison confirmed to High Plains Pundit that Lucio Zavala Sifuentes Jr., 33, turned himself in early Saturday evening.

ORIGINAL POST: The Hereford Police Department is looking for a suspect who shot at an officer early Friday morning.

Investigators say a Hereford police officer was investigating Lucio Zavala Sifuentes Jr. after he walked in front of a patrol car around 3 am. Sifuentes Jr. ran from the officer as he was being patted down.

The officers attempted to tase the fleeing suspect. Sifuentes Jr. then fired a weapon at the officer.

Officials say the officer was able to catch up to Sifuentes Jr., and a scuffle began between the two. During the continued confrontation, Sifuentes Jr. was able to fire another shot at the officer.

Sifuentes Jr. was able to get away from the officer and fled the scene. He remains at large.

The officer involved in this incident was not hit by any of the shots fired by the suspect. Hereford Police have issued a warrant for Sifuentes Jr. for attempted capital murder.

Sifuentes Jr. is described as 5'6, 180lbs, black hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of his last name on his throat.
