Plane crash in Hereford sends 4 people to hospital

A plane crash near Hereford Municipal Airport late Sunday morning sent four people.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Piper PA-32-30 crashed at the Hereford Municipal Airport. The plane broke apart on impact with the ground, and pieces of the plane scattered across a grassy area.

Sgt. Cindy Barkley says the pilot, 30-year-old Andrea Reinert of Canyon, and three passengers were transported to hospitals. Reinert was listed in critical condition Monday, while two other passengers were stable.

The other victim was treated and released.

Barkley on Monday said a passenger told authorities that there may have been too much weight on board.

The National Transportation Safety Board will be traveling to Hereford to investigate the cause of the crash.
