Lubbock police looking for gun thief


The Lubbock Police Department is looking for a gun thief. On July 10th, the suspect stole a gun out of an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1900 block of 56th Street.

These thieves are opportunists and they work fast. It only took 45 seconds for this suspect to walk up the driveway, skip over the first vehicle that was locked, rummage through the unlocked vehicle and take off with a gun.

A large number of vehicle burglaries and stolen vehicles involve unlocked doors or the keys being left inside the vehicle.

Last year, more than 350 guns stolen out of vehicles in Lubbock. So far this year, there have been more than 170 guns stolen out of vehicles. Please make sure your guns are secure at all times.
