Hostage situation at Amarillo apartment complex ends peacefully: One person arrested

On Friday September 14th, Amarillo Police Department SWAT officers were looking for 24 year old Alexander Archuleta, who had a probation violation warrant for burglary.

At 5:30 pm, APD SWAT officers had information that Archuleta was inside of an apartment at 8801 Tarter. SWAT officers located the apartment and the APD Critical Incident Response Team was called.

Officers received information that Archuleta was inside of the apartment with multiple firearms and other people. After the APD Crisis Negotiators made contact with Archuleta, he allowed a male and a female to come outside.

The two victims told officers that they were held against their will inside by Archuleta while a gun was pointed at them. Crisis Negotiators continued to speak with Archuleta and eventually he exited the building and was taken into custody.

Archuleta was arrested for his Probation Violation Warrant, two counts of Unlawful Restraint, two counts of Felon In Possession of a Firearm, Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon and Resisting Arrest. He was booked into the Randall County Jail.
