Dumas police looking for car thieves

On September 1st, 2018 officers with the Dumas Police Department were dispatched to Walmart located at 2003 South Dumas Avenue in reference to a robbery in the parking lot. According to the victim, two male subjects approached her, and using force, stole her vehicle. Due to the nature of the call, deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Dumas Police Department.

As the deputies and officers arrived at Walmart, they were made aware that the subjects who stole the vehicle left the scene and began driving south on Highway 287 towards Amarillo. Deputies began driving southbound attempting to locate the vehicle. The deputies located the vehicle south of Dumas and attempted to make a traffic stop and take the suspects into custody.

The suspects inside the vehicle failed to stop and a chase ensued. Deputies with the Moore County Sheriff’s Office chased the suspects into the Amarillo city limits. Once inside the city limits, the suspects were able to elude the deputies and were not caught.

The Moore County Sheriff’s Office and the Dumas Police Department are currently looking for information on the suspects who stole the vehicle and eluded our Deputies. We are also looking for information on the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle. The vehicle is described as a 2016 white Dodge Challenger.
