Burglary charges pending against two men arrested north of Dumas

On Thursday August 30th, 2018 at approximately 6 am, patrol deputies were en-route to the scene of an accident in Etter. As the deputies were responding, the sergeant on duty noticed a vehicle parked at ABC Storage located north of Dumas.

Deputies have responded to ABC Storage recently due to burglaries that have been taking place. Because the sergeant was en-route to the accident, he contacted another on duty deputy and advised him of the suspicious activity.

The deputy responded and located the vehicle parked in a suspicious manner. As the deputy was doing a security check on the storage lockers, he located two individuals. The individuals were dressed in black clothing, had a ski mask, and were wearing gloves.

During the course of the investigation patrol deputies located tools commonly used to break into buildings and commit burglaries. Both subjects were arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Criminal Instrument and placed in the Moore County Jail.

A patrol deputy interviewed one of the suspects and was able to ascertain information on other burglaries that occurred at ABC Storage. Deputies also were made aware of the whereabouts of stolen property.

Patrol deputies were able to obtain a search warrant and executed the search warrant that evening. Deputies located a large quantity of stolen items and were able to contact the rightful owner of the property.

The owners of the property arrived on scene and their items were returned to them.

Burglary of a Building charges are currently pending and the case will be filed with the 69th District Attorney’s Office.
