Texas Tech University to hold 2018 summer commencement on Saturday

Texas Tech University will host summer commencement ceremonies Saturday (Aug. 11) at the United Supermarkets Arena, located at 1701 Indiana Ave. A total of 1,526 undergraduate and graduate students will walk the stage.

“Commencement is an opportunity to acknowledge our students’ achievements and thank them for their past and future representation of Texas Tech University,” said Texas Tech President Lawrence Schovanec. “We look forward to their continued contributions to our society as they move forward in their many endeavors.”

Ceremonies can be viewed online via livestream.

The 9 a.m. ceremony features the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, College of Media & Communication, College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources, College of Architecture and the Graduate School and Honors College (for the schools listed here).

The ceremony at 1:30 p.m. features the Jerry S. Rawls College of Business, College of Human Sciences, Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering, University Programs, Wind Energy, J.T. & Margaret Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts, and the Graduate School and Honors College (for the schools listed here).

U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith, who represents the 21st Congressional District of Texas, will serve as the speaker for the summer 2018 commencement ceremonies.
