Clovis leaders holding public meeting about proposed casino and horse track

On Tuesday, Clovis community leaders will be hosting an informational meeting concerning plans to build a combination casino and horse track in the eastern New Mexico city. The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce located at 105 East Grand Street.

L&M Entertainment has been formed by Laguna Development Corporation (LDC) of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Miller Companies of Hinsdale, Illinois in a joint venture for the purpose of submitting a proposal to obtain the state’s 6th and final racino license, first announced on April 19th with procedures and deadlines announced today by the New Mexico State Racing Commission.

Both companies have previously expressed interest in constructing a racetrack and casino in Clovis / Curry County as far back as 2015. Kevin Greer, currently the Chief Operating Officer at Laguna Development Corporation and Rob Miller, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Miller Companies will serve as the Managers for L&M Entertainment.

“We believe New Mexico’s eastern region is a good market for racing, gaming, and hospitality enterprises. LDC has strong, on-the-ground and first hand management and operational acumen while Miller Companies has a successful track record in gaming investment and finance.

"With our considerable talents and resources, we believe together we can produce an attractive, well-financed and comprehensive racing, casino, restaurant and entertainment package that would contribute significantly to the economy of New Mexico.

"We believe our collaboration can result in an exciting new enterprise, significant construction and long-term good-paying careers in the hospitality and horse racing industries that will benefit citizens in the City of Clovis, Curry County and New Mexico," Greer and Miller said in a joint statement.
