Amarillo Fire Department announces promotions and retirement


The Amarillo Fire Department announced the following members retired or promoted in June 2018.

District Chief Wes Hall retired after serving the citizens of Amarillo as a firefighter for almost 20 years. He will continue his service to the citizens as the City of Amarillo Risk Management Director.

Captain Dana Havlik promoted to District Chief of Training. His previous assignment was Training Captain.

Lieutenant Dustin Howell promoted to Captain and is assigned to the firefighter PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) program. He was previously assigned to the SCBA (Self-contained Breathing Apparatus) program.

Driver Mitch Armstrong promoted to Lieutenant and will remain in the firefighter PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) program.

Firefighter Zach Butt promoted to Driver and is assigned to the firefighter Health and Safety program. He was previously assigned to the ARFF (Aircraft Rescue & Firefighting) program.
