Amarillo police investigating attempted burglary and shots fired in south Amarillo


Early Wednesday morning, Amarillo police officers were called to a residence in the 4400 block of Evelyn Street on a shots fired call.

The victims at the residence heard their garage door open. A male resident went out to the garage and confronted the suspect by a bicycle in the driveway.

After being confronted by the resident, the suspect ran away and fired multiple shots at the victim, striking the victims truck parked in the driveway. The victims at the residence were uninjured.

Shortly after the call, an APD officer saw two males waking in the area of Ridgecrest and Western Street. When the officer attempted to contact the males they ran into a nearby apartment complex and were not located.

Both of the suspects are described as being about six foot tall, wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, dark pants and back packs.
