Amarillo Chamber reveals Route 66 Celebration plans: Canyon announces July 4th activities


On Monday, the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce revealed the plans for the 2nd annual Route 66 Celebration to be held June 28th through the 30th.


The event schedule is as follows:

Thursday, 6/28

6:30 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Concert at Starlight Ranch: featuring Reckless Kelly.

Friday, 6/29

6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. 80's Night Concert at Starlight Ranch featuring Noah Jenda.

Saturday, 6/30

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Amarillo Community Market Vendors will have a diverse mix of everything the Texas Panhandle has to offer on Polk Street between 5th and 8th Streets.

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Historic Route 66 Association will host its annual Route 66 Festival on Historic 6th Street. Shop and dine along the original Route 66 in Amarillo.

4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Food truck alley, along 7th Street between Polk and Fillmore, an array of food trucks will be selling a variety of offerings until after the fireworks show.

4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Joe's Hospitality Center, stop by the corner of 6th and Taylor Streets for adult beverages and food provided by Joe Daddy's and Joe Tacos.

4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Amarillo National Bank Stage, on Polk St. between 6th and 7th Street, listen to live music on the ANB Stage by the Dust Jackets at 5 p.m., Rock Bottom at 7:45 p.m. and Best of Amarillo Hall of Fame winner Insufficient Funds at 8:30 p.m.

4 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Happy State Bank Stage, Located at 6th and Taylor, the stage will be manned by crowd favorite DJ, Tommy the Hacker.
9:45 p.m.* Fireworks show with music specially choreographed will begin at about 9:45 p.m.

Canyon's 4th of July Celebration begins on Tuesday, July 3rd. Come to the First United Bank Center for fun, food and live entertainment. Kickin' it in Canyon will feature live music from the Josh Abbott Band with the local band Next to Kin.

Gates open at 6:30 pm with live music starting at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10.00 per person in advance and $15.00 at the gate. Tickets go on sale May 1st.

Join Canyon on Wednesday, July 4th for one of the biggest 4th of July Celebrations in the state of Texas.

The parade begins at 10:00 am. It will begin at the First United Bank Center and travel west, down 4th Avenue through the city of Canyon. The parade will end to the west of Canyon's Downtown Square, on 11th Street.

After the parade join us for the Fair on the Square where you will enjoy food, fun, and shopping with over 100 vendors! The entire downtown area of Canyon is blocked off to allow spectators and shoppers alike to enjoy all Canyon has to offer.

The Fair on the Square is open from 9:00 am-3:00 pm.

After all of the downtown festivities, make plans to watch the fantastic fireworks show at Conner Park. There will have live music for your entertainment starting at 6:00 pm. Bring the family and enjoy a picnic in the park with food from one of several food trucks before the fireworks show.

The fireworks are choreographed to your favorite patriotic music. Weather permitting, the fireworks will begin at dark, around 10:00 pm.
