Woman and young boy shot: APD looking for suspect


Late Friday evening, Amarillo police officers were dispatched in the area of I-40 and Bell in reference to shots being fired from a vehicle. In route to the call, officers learned there may two potential gun shot victims at an area hospital.

After further investigation, officers were able to confirm that a suspect in a red 4 door Dodge Charger had pulled in front of the victim's vehicle and opened fire upon the victim's vehicle.

The driver, a 21 year old woman, sustained minor injuries in the incident. An 11 year old male passenger received an injury to the upper body.

Neither of the two victims injuries are believed to be life threatening. Both victims are in stable condition at a local hospital.

The suspect in the shooting was described as possibly being a Hispanic male with dark curly hair. The vehicle was further described as possibly being "candy apple red" and may have an after market rear spoiler.
