OEM conducting full scale training exercise in Canyon

On Wednesday, May 23, the Amarillo Area Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will conduct a full-scale annual disaster exercise. This exercise will be staged around a simulated aircraft crash in Canyon, TX.

More than 30 agencies and multiple disciplines will participate including dispatch, emergency management, emergency medical services, fire, healthcare, law enforcement, schools, and voluntary organizations active in a disaster. This exercise will allow these agencies to practice their skills and response procedures to a mass casualty and fatality situation as well as identify opportunities to enhance their current capabilities.

The OEM encourages that all individuals, families, and businesses ensure they are prepared for any hazard. Being prepared and conducting exercises is a critical element of any emergency program.
