Lady Buffs finish second at LSC Outdoor Track & Field Championships

The top ranked Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M scored 125 points on Championship Saturday while claiming four individual Lone Star Conference Championship on the afternoon as they finished second overall with 172 points during the LSC Outdoor Track & Field Championships at LeGrand Stadium in San Angelo, Texas.

Lindy Pasley started off the scoring on Saturday with an eighth place finish in the Javelin with a mark of 33.76m on her third attempt of the morning, Cayli Yarbrough picked up two and a half points for the Lady Buffs as the junior finished tied for sixth in the high jump (1.64m) followed by sister Carri Yarbrough tied for eighth (1,59m).

Fatim Affessi won her second individual title of the weekend with a mark of 6.02m in her third attempt of the long jump while Zada Swoopes registered a mark of 48.93m in the shot put in her third attempt of the afternoon to finish third, Cheyenne Williams finished fourth in the event (45.11m).

The Lady Buff 4x100m relay team of Affessi, Kennedy Hudson, Nele Heinrich and Valda Kabia finished third with a time of 46.14 while Nikolina Hrelec picked up a pair of distance event titles starting off with the 1,500m (4:45.18) followed by Aubri Wrye in fifth with a time of 4:56.20. Madison Thetford finished third in the 100m hurdles with a provo time of 13.94 while Nele Heinrich ran a time of 55.97 in the 400m Dash to finish third.

Hudson won the 100m Dash crown with a provisional mark of 11.63 for the seventh fastest time in the country followed by Kabia in second (11.71) to hit a provo mark of her own for the 11th best time in Division II. Hrelec claimed her second LSC Title of the afternoon in the 800m with a time of 2:16.16 while Thetford finished third in the 400m hurdles with a provisional time of 1:01.80 followed by Arlene Crossan in fourth (1:02.97).

Erman Jepleting finished fifth in the women's 5,000m with a time of 18:34.26 followed by Mallory Shehan in seventh (18:50.25) and Hrelec in eighth (18:50.68), Kabia scored eight points for the Lady Buffs in the 200m Dash with a second place finish as she ran a 24.08 followed by Hudson in fourth (24.49). The women's 4x400m relay team of Crossan, Thetford, Kabia and Heinrich closed out the action with a second place finish and a time of 3:45.68.

Angelo State claimed the team crown with 227 points followed by WT (172), Texas A&M-Commerce (146), Texas A&M-Kingsville (110), Tarleton State (72.5), Eastern New Mexico (48.5), Lubbock Christian (31) and Midwestern State (6).
