Friday night car auto accident leaves 1 woman dead


Late Friday evening, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to a single vehicle accident in the 2000 block of South Arthur Street.

Raquel Sierra Chavez, 27, had been driving a 2013 Chrystler 200 southbound on South Arthur going under IH-40. Chavez lost control of the vehicle causing it to roll and she was ejected.

Chavez died at the crash scene as a result of injuries received. Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson has ordered an autopsy.

Speed, alcohol, and not wearing a seat belt are believed to be factors in this collision.

The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department.
