Thursday afternoon, Amarillo police officers were dispatched to the 3500 block of Soncy on shots fired.

The victim exited a business and found a male suspect burglarizing his vehicle. During a physical altercation with the victim, the suspect pulled out a gun.

Investigators say the suspect fired a shot at the victim, but missed. The bullet did ricochet off of the ground and strike a vehicle driving by in the parking lot.

Both the victim and family in the vehicle were uninjured.

Witnesses told police that the suspect got into a tan Chevrolet Avalanche driven by another subject and left.

The suspect was described as being a white male around 5’8’’ tall with brown hair and possibly a goatee. Witnesses were able to give a good description of the suspect and the suspect vehicle.

At 6:30 pm Thursday, the victim whose vehicle had been struck by the bullet called the police and advised that he was behind the suspect vehicle at I-40 and Georgia. Officers responded and located the suspect vehicle.

Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as 29 year old Christopher Bradley Arthur. Arthur was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and he was placed under arrest.

After further investigation, Arthur was arrested for the theft and shooting earlier in the day. He was placed under arrest for Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Arthur was booked into the Randall County Jail on his charges.

A passenger in Arthur’s vehicle was released.
