Lady Buffs blow past UT Permian Basin 72-36

The No. 25 Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M went on an early 17-0 run and never looked back as their strong defensive performance gave WT a 72-36 win over the visiting Falcons of UT Permian Basin on Tuesday night in Lone Star Conference action at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.

West Texas A&M was led offensively by Lexy Hightower who went 8-of-13 from the floor including 2-of-4 from deep to lead all players with 20 points on the night followed by Tiana Parker and Delyah Harris with 10 each, Parker grabbed nine rebounds to finish just shy of a double-double to go along with two blocks.

Khali Pippins-Tryon led the Falcons as she went 3-of-7 from the floor and 2-of-3 from deep to score 11 points followed by Jackie Perez with nine, Pippins-Tryon grabbed six rebounds on the night to go along with an assist.

The Lady Buffs went 14-of-32 (43.8%) from the floor in the first half including 4-of-8 (50%) from deep and 6-of-7 (85.7%) from the free throw line with 28 rebounds (12 offensive, 16 defensive), seven assists, 13 turnovers, three blocks and 10 steals.

UT Permian Basin finished the first half going 6-of-27 (22.2%) from the floor including 2-of-8 (25%) from behind the arc without to taking a free throw in the half to go along with 12 rebounds (five offensive, seven defensive), three assists, 14 turnovers, one block and three steals.

WT finished the game going 25-of-54 (46.3%) from the field including 5-of-16 (31.3%) from deep and 17-of-20 (85%) from the free throw line to go along with 58 rebounds (19 offensive, 39 defensive), 14 assists, 28 turnovers, four blocks and 14 steals in the win.

UT Permian Basin went 11-of-58 (19%) from the floor including 4-of-20 (20%) from behind the arc and 10-of-13 (76.9%) from the free throw line with 21 rebounds (nine offensive, 12 defensive), five assists, 19 turnovers, two blocks and 11 steals.
