DPS trooper finds $679,000 of marijuana during Oldham County traffic stop

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 112 pounds of marijuana Tuesday, after a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County.

At approximately 2:10 p.m., a DPS Trooper stopped a 2017 Dodge Durango traveling east on I-40 near Vega, for a traffic violation. The Trooper then discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana in luggage in the rear cargo area. The illegal drugs are worth approximately $679,000.

The driver – Duc Nguyen, 51, of Mesquite, Texas - was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Nguyen was transported and booked into the Oldham County jail.

The drugs allegedly were being transported from Santa Ana, California to Mesquite, Texas.
