Amarillo police looking for bank robbery suspect

The Amarillo Police Department is searching for a man who robbed the First United Bank at 1900 SE 34th on Thursday.

Investigators say the suspect entered the bank, pulling a bandanna up over his face. He had a small silver handgun in his hand and announced the robbery.

The suspect placed a white cloth bag on the teller’s counter and demanded money. At some point during the robbery, he threatened to shoot employees of the bank.

After obtaining money, the man told bank employees to get down on the floor. The suspect then left the bank.

Officers believe that he ran south from the bank. He may have been seen running south on Ross Street after the robbery.

The suspect is a Hispanic male about six feet tall, wearing a camouflage hat, dark bandanna, sunglasses, blue coat, and blue jeans.

No one was injured during the incident.
