Bushland defeats Seminole 49-36 to advance in state playoffs

Bushland defeated Seminole 49-36 in the Class 4A Division II regional semifinal game on Friday night.

“Our defense is playing hard, and that was just evident. We bent a little bit tonight, but we just didn’t break. We just kept playing.

"I think the key to the game was we just kept playing on both sides of the ball

“It’s special. You know, just at halftime we just knew we didn’t need to panic being down three because we missed a lot of opportunities in the first half. We told them they’d have to be mentally tough in the second half and keep playing," Falcon coach Jimmy Thomas said.

Falcon quarterback Colton Moore dominated the game, finishing with 489 total yards and seven touchdowns. Moore rushed for 172 yards on 34 carries, while completing 19 of 32 passes for 317 yards.

Seminole coach Kent Jackson noted that his team was simply outplayed by the Falcons.

“Those suckers are good and they made every play they had to make, and they’ve done it over and over again.

“So, at some point, you have to stop calling it coincidence and tip your hat to them. They were better tonight and that is the bottom line. They met us at each turn, and I am so impressed with their relentlessness," Jackson said.

Bushland will face Graham in the next round of the playoffs.
